From whatsapp version 2.19.20, any whatsapp user with iphone having touch id and face id can use these features are lock for the app.
To make this work for you, got to settings, scroll down to find whatsapp and toggle on face id.
Then open whatsapp, click settings > account > privacy > Screen lock > toggle on face id or touch id.
Boom thats it.
Now every time you open whatsapp, it asks for touch id or face id, and when it fails, it asks for passcode.
